The Acapulco Bag in Detail
Acapulco is a fully lined tote-style bag with pretty ruffles on the front. The pattern also includes a version without ruffles for those who prefer a simpler look 🙂
It's large enough to hold an A4-sized document and has plenty of pockets to help you stay organized.
What makes it so fun is its built-in removable zippered pocket. Perfect for storing the little items from your treasure trove (yes, we’re definitely talking about your bag!).
What kind of fabric should I use to sew the bag?
To make this bag, choose medium- to heavy-weight fabrics with good structure, such as velvet, canvas, faux suede, and cotton.
For the lining, choose lightweight fabrics such as cotton voile and viscose.
As for the versions presented in this article, we have chosen:
- Corduroy for the burgundy version
- Seersucker cotton for the honey-colored Vichy check version
Supplies Needed to Sew the Bag
As for the fabric, the advantage is that you won't need any pieces longer than 1 meter. You'll need 2 pieces:
- 1 piece of fabric, 1 m long, with a width of 140 cm, for the right side
- 1 piece of fabric, 70 cm long and 140 cm wide, for the lining
As for sewing supplies, you'll need the following items:
- 1 piece of 1-meter-long iron-on interfacing, 90 cm wide, suitable for fabric
- 1 standard 15-cm zipper for the inside pocket
To sew the removable pouch, you'll also need:
- 1 standard 18-cm zipper
- 1 25-mm ring
- 1 20-mm carabiner
