What formats are available for Majam patterns?

Majam patterns are available in two different formats: either as a paper pattern or as a digital PDF pattern.

The envelope-style package contains the full-size paper pattern sheet and the instruction booklet for sewing the blouse. It is shipped within 48 hours of your order.

The PDF format is a digital file available for download. As soon as you complete your pattern purchase, you can download your pattern instantly to print it yourself. You’ll always have two digital versions: the A0 file to take to a print shop and the A4 file to print at home.

How do you choose the right size for a blouse pattern?

As they say, forget your ready-to-wear size

To make sure you choose the right size for your sewing pattern, you'll need to take your measurements using a measuring tape. If needed, we explain how to take your measurements here.

Next, based on your measurements, you’ll need to choose the size to cut out using the size chart included with each pattern. Be sure to refer to the specific size chart for the pattern you’re sewing—this is very important.

At Majam, we always include additional information in the instruction booklet that comes with our patterns to help you choose the right size.

In terms of size range, all of our sewing patterns are available in sizes 34 through 58. In other words, no matter your body type, you’ll find the perfect blouse pattern for you. We have something for every woman!

What fabrics should we use to sew our blouse and shirt patterns?

When sewing our blouse patterns here at Majam, we generally prefer flowing fabrics like viscose. Again, the recommended fabrics are listed in each pattern. Please note: if you want to sew a stretchy garment like a T-shirt, you’ll need to choose a stretchy fabric, such as cotton jersey, for example.

Are blouse patterns suitable for beginners?

Actually, it depends on the patterns and sewing techniques used to make them. A straight, loose-fitting blouse would be suitable for beginners, while a blouse with a tailored collar would be for advanced sewers.

For each of our blouse patterns, the difficulty level is listed on the product page. On the website, you can also filter patterns by difficulty level based on what you're looking for.

Can you adapt blouse patterns to make dresses?

It depends on the pattern. In fact, some blouse or shirt patterns are designed in such a way that alterations aren't possible.

With straight-cut blouses, on the other hand, it’s entirely possible. You’ll need to make adjustments to the pattern to lengthen it at the bottom. We have a tutorial on the blog that explains this in more detail.
