This opens up a very interesting discussion about the difference between a pattern and a finished garment.
In ready-to-wear fashion, a pattern is created for a blouse, for example, but it is adapted for each fabric and every detail added to it: trim, placket, buttons, etc.
In fact, when you create a garment, you have to adjust it to ensure a flawless finish.
When designing this camisole, we were completely focused on creating a silk camisole with lace trim that could be worn during the day. So we tweaked the pattern until we achieved the look we wanted for this daytime lace camisole—and that’s it 🙂
This is really a garment we created from scratch, rather than a generic pattern. So it’s important to explain more clearly what Elisa’s version will look like when sewn exactly as shown, and how you can modify it slightly if you’d like.

How to Cut the Elisa Pattern
For this day-to-day camisole, we’ve reduced the ease at the bust and under the arms to the bare minimum. Why?
1 – To prevent the lace from folding in on itself
In fact, the lace on this camisole is quite wide: 35 / 40 mm
To ensure it stands up nicely at the top of the top, it needed to sit as close to the skin as possible, without being too tight. Reducing the ease allows us to achieve this look.
2 – To protect our privacy
Since the straps are very thin, we imagined that this top could be worn without a bra. That’s why we didn’t want you to end up with your breasts exposed when you bend over to pick up a pen off the floor, give your child a hug, or simply pick some raspberries!
Thanks to the top’s close fit against the skin, we avoid these mishaps.
How do I choose the right size?
Be sure to check the size chart forthis camisole pattern. If you’re between two sizes based on your bust measurement, choose the larger size.
If you prefer a slightly looser fit while still enjoying the two benefits mentioned above, choose half a size larger.
Example: My bust measurement is 88, which corresponds to a size 38. But I want a little more room: I’m between sizes 38 and 40.
If you'd like to make any kind of top using this pattern with a looser fit, you can go up one size.
When it comes to sleepwear, choosing a size 1.5 sizes larger—or even 2 sizes larger—will be much more comfortable for sleeping.
