Each season, Majam offers couture collections featuring exclusive fabrics.How are these fabrics made? Where are they produced, and why?

The Design of Our Fabrics
For our first fabric collections, the designs were created in-house by our team. The process begins with sketches—either drawn by hand or created directly on the computer—based on the theme of the desired collection.
Next, we work on the size of the design and choose the colors we'll use.
So far, it's a very standard process, but it's the most time-consuming part!
For the past few years, graphic designers have been creating the patterns for our collections.We will continue to develop the colors and their harmony in-house, as well as handle the pattern repetition, sizing, and other related tasks.
Once the design is ready, we send it to our partner factories for printing.
Where are our partner factories located?
All Majam fabrics are manufactured in Europe, specifically in countries that share borders with France, to minimize transportation distances.
Our current partners are France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey.
Why did you choose these partners?
It's important to us to produce our fabrics close to home, without having to go all the way to the other side of the world (even though it's really beautiful over there!).
It's true that it's hard to know what lies behind the "made in" label.
In fact, all it takes is to print patterns in Italy on fabric woven elsewhere in the world to be able to label it “fabric made in Italy.” However, that doesn’t make sense to us.
We therefore strive to ensure that as many steps as possible are carried out with minimal transportation, and that the people who worked on producing our fabrics did so under good conditions.
Take, for example, our new coral-colored Ocean Stripes cotton fabric. The cotton comes from Asia or the Americas (depending on availability) because that’s where most of the world’s cotton is grown. The cotton arrives in Italy in the form of spools. It is then woven locally, treated, and finally printed with our designs.
When we work with Portugal, the process is the same, but everything takes place within Portugal. The idea isn’t to ship the fabric all the way to Italy to be woven and then back to Portugal to be printed—no. The goal is to carry out as many steps as possible “locally.”
And of course, all our fabrics are Oeko-Tex certified because it’s better for you, for our planet, and for the people who work to produce the fabrics.
The road to a more sustainable world is still a long one, but we can all, little by little, one step at a time, do better today than we did yesterday.
You’re already doing this by sewing your own clothes, and we’re doing a little more every day on our end through lots of small actions that we don’t necessarily tell you about—but we’ll be talking more about them from now on.
