Well, it all started with the desire to create a pattern for men. After giving it some thought, we decided that thepolo shirtwas a true staple—both classy and casual. It would be a pattern we could use over and over again.
So here we are, diving intomen's clothing design.
The more the polo shirt design evolved, the more the idea of pairing it with another piece of women’s clothing took hold. We wanted couples to coordinate and choose their styles together—the fabrics, what they want to pair with it, and what they don’t want…
So we then created thepolo dress patternfor her, to match his.
As for the characters’ names, they came together very quickly during a brainstorming walk (we’d run out of chocolate) with the team. The slightly British vibe of the polo shirt made us think of Kate Middleton, and just like that, we hadour royal couple: Kate and William!
